Hey all,
It's been about 2-3 years in the non-making but Garlic Jr 2.0 by Chrono_Strife and Benhazard for Mu1.1 is complete, or so I think. I've spaced out bursts of work on him so frequently I don't even know if everything is where it needs to be. But I am pretty sure it is!
If anything is wrong or horrifically stupid let me know, I'm scattered as of the past years or so, I wouldn't be surprised if I did anything really, really dumb and missed it. Bugs, infinites, generally bad stuff like that I want to know about. I'll jot it all down for the next release in 2 years or so!
Everything is a big change, but the most exciting one to hear about from a supermove standpoint is Garlic's Dead Zone is now a Lvl3 Super, not a finisher (though it still sucks them up if opponent dies). ALso Garlic himself can be sucked up into it if you hit him several times during the charge.
Concept and Ideas:
Mine and Ben's Android 16 was more of a gameplay polishing test, taking the way (boring or otherwise) I do my characters and polishing it, Garlic Jr has some improvements to that, mainly with the teleport chaining to make them a bit more worthwhile, but Garlic is mostly a visuals test. Added tons of new primarily code based effects, as well some PNG tests to do normal transparency in some instances without relying on additive or subtractive blending.
I tried to keep the FX simple, as few actual images used per animation as possible (generally just single rings or spheres) then rotate, fade, resize as needed. I was also a bit more liberal with the number of explods and helps on the screen at once, similar to mine and Neo's old Android 18. However Mugen 1.1 is designed to handle way more than 1.0 and earlier versions to do it using GPU as well as CPU.
I also tried to self-standardize things like PalFx colors and auras to mean something. More so with the PalFx (blue is counter, yellow is hold-button charge attack, red is power attack (often including a stack of armor mode, so avoid these attacks).

--Updated for Mugen 1.1!
--Updated sprites by Benhazard! He is Bigger and badder looking than ever!
--Overhauled gameplay. His handling should be familiar but further polished.
--Made Garlic Jr focus even moreso on heavy hitting attacks and throws.
--Updated the AI yet again. Difficulty has been increased this time.
--Updated many of the effects and code to be suitable for Mugen 1.1.
--Added a power particle aura increasing with power level.
--Added more obvious and subtle visual effects to various moves.
--Tweaked the CMD to make commands more fluid for the player.
--New and improved ReadMe!
=Ability Changes:
--Removed ability: Hand beam finisher to the Ki Chain.
--Removed ability: Garlic Smash and made it a special chain attack.
--New ability: Hellfire Kick, with one stack of Super Armor.
--New ability: Eternal/Immortal Rage.
--New ability: Shoulder Smash to follow up Garlic Toss.
--New ability: Garlic Smash Chain Combo.
--New ability: Power Kick. Charge ability.
--Changed: Deadzone. No longer a finisher and is now a Lvl3 Super.
--Changed: Garlic Toss and Face Breaker to be more brutal.
--Changed: Teleport chaining to be simpler.
--Changed: Ground Pound. Now a charge ability.

Also there is no Japanese voice option. I didn't feel like re-ripping all his Japanese AND English voice from Budokai 3 again to line them up. If anyone has them and can send them, I should be able work with them assuming they are all there!
